Privacy policy

LocalPulse (“we”, “us”) is run by LocalPulse from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This policy explains what we collect when you use LocalPulse, why we need it and the choices you have. It is written to meet India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Google’s API Services User Data Policy.

What we collect

When you ask for your free health score

• Your name, business name, WhatsApp number and (if you add it) your city.

When you connect your Google Business Profile

• The Business Profile accounts and locations you manage, and their details such as name, address, category, hours and phone number.
• Performance numbers Google shares for those locations, such as searches, Maps views, calls, direction requests and website clicks.
• The search words people used to find you, as shared by Google each month.
• Your reviews, star ratings and any replies.
• An access key from Google that lets us read this data and post replies you approve. We never see or store your Google password.

When you use LocalPulse on WhatsApp

• Your WhatsApp number and display name, and the messages you send to us and we send to you.
• A record of every reply you approve or reject, with the time and the number it came from.

How we use it

• To work out your health score and send your daily and weekly reports.
• To answer the questions you ask about your Google profile.
• To write review replies when you ask, and to post them to Google only after you approve them.
• To contact you about setting up and running your account.
• To keep the service secure, fix problems and prevent misuse.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use your Google data to train AI models.

Google user data

LocalPulse’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• We only use Google data to provide the features you see in LocalPulse: reports, answers, health scores and replies you approve.
• We only transfer it when needed to provide those features, to follow the law, or as part of a merger or sale with your notice.
• People on our team cannot read your Google data unless you ask us for help, we need to for security, or the law requires it.

AI processing

To answer questions and write review replies, we send the relevant review text and numbers to Google Gemini on Vertex AI. Google processes this on our behalf and, under the Vertex AI terms, does not use it to train its models. Replies written by AI are suggestions. Nothing is posted to Google until you approve it.

Who processes your data

• Google: Business Profile data and sign-in.
• Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform): delivering messages between you and LocalPulse.
• Google (Gemini on Vertex AI): answering questions and writing reply drafts.
• Our hosting provider: storing the data and running the service.

Some of these providers process data outside India. We only use providers that protect it under contract.

How long we keep it

• While your account is active, we keep your data so reports can compare this week with past weeks.
• You can remove LocalPulse’s access to Google at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. We stop reading your Google data straight away.
• Ask us to delete your account and we will delete your Google data, messages and reports within 30 days, except records the law requires us to keep.
• If you only filled in the free score form and never connected Google, we delete your details after 12 months of no contact, or sooner if you ask.

How we protect it

Data travels over encrypted connections. Google access keys are stored encrypted. Each business’s data is kept separate from every other business. Only the WhatsApp numbers linked to your account can ask about it or approve replies.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, withdraw your consent, or name someone to act for you. You can also raise a complaint with us, and if we don’t resolve it, with the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

LocalPulse is for businesses. It is not meant for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect children’s data.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you on WhatsApp before the change applies. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
